The Omo valley is dominated mainly by many ethnic groups who speak Omotic language as classified by linguistics. The region and the people are one of the least affected by the modern world. The Hammer tribes who are well known for their sense of elegance are the major ethnic group in the region. The Surma and Mursi women, who wear lip plates by piercing their lower lip, have been compelling tourists to travel to their land to see what seems impossible. In addition, the Omo valley is rich in human prehistory; archaeologists have unearthed the remains of earliest human being on earth. The area is also known for the existence of large number of wildlife of a great variety.

Day 1 Dec 22/2018: City tour of Addis Ababa

Arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel by Pagumen tour and travel representative. Depending on your arrival time City tour of Addis Ababa will be arranged:
Being home for United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and African Union (AU) Addis Ababa is referred as the capital of Africa. Addis is also the center of the country’s Economy, social and political activity.
City tour of Addis Ababa includes National museum: home for the oldest and famous hominid fossil of ‘Lucy’, Ethnographic museum: treasured with cultural and historical artifacts from all over Ethiopia, Mount Entoto for the scenic view of Addis Ababa, Trinity cathedral church its unique architecture and iconic window paintings painted by the famous Ethiopian painter Afwerk Tekle and Merkato: the biggest open air market in East Africa.

Day 2DEC 23/ 18: Drive to Arbaminch

Drive to Arbaminch through the Great Rift Valley Lakes wondering cultural and natural wilderness attractions, the worthwhile sceneries, local villages and life styles.

Day 03DEC 24/ 19: Arbaminch

Drive to Dorze Village of Chencha town situated 3000m above sea level with the highest peak of Guge mountain. Dorze people who are famous for their unique elephant face houses built from bamboo tree, Unique dancing, traditional weaving and the unique life style.
Afternoon you will visit the ‘crocodile market on Lake Chamo. This Lake is known for its enormous population of aquatic life such as the Nile Crocodiles, Hippopotamus and different species of birds and the unique life style.

Day 4Dec 25/2018: Drive to Jinka

Morning you will visit the ‘crocodile market on Lake Chamo. This Lake is known for its enormous population of aquatic life such as the Nile Crocodiles, Hippopotamus and different species of birds.
After lunch drive to Jinka via konso. On the way you may see Benna and Tsemai tribes with their interesting dressing style, different beads and ornamentation.

Day 5Dec 26/2018: Jinka – Mursi- Turmi

Early in the morning drive to visit the Mursi tribes through Mago NP where you may encounter some game animals that suddenly emerge to the road. The Mursi are known for their Patterns, lip plate earlobes and stick fighting (Donga). Afterward, drive to Turmi, home of the Hamar tribe famous that enjoys body decoration like the other Omo area tribes and wear quantities of colorful beads and clay hair buns with Ostrich feathers, bull-jumping ceremonies and Evangadi dances. They are one of the most known and second dominant tribe in the southern Ethiopia. On the way, visit the colorful Dimeka Market (Every Tuesday/ Saturday) small village town in the districts of Hammer tribe. Late in the afternoon tour the Hammer’s villages to discover their lifestyle at home and their traditional practices. Overnight– Turmi

Day 6Dec 27/2018: Turmi – Murule – Turmi

In the morning, you will be heading to Korcho, home to the Karo tribe. The people have settled around the eastern bank of the Omo River. The Karo tribe is very well known for their body paintings, for beautifying purposes. From this particular village, the view of the Omo River is magnificent, the Omo River flowing down South into the Turkana Lake.

Late afternoon you will drive to one of the nearest Hamer village to visit their way of life. Unique traditional dance and bull jumping ceremony would be optional and depends on the season

Day 7Dec 28/2018: Turmi – Konso – Arbaminch

Drive to Arbaminch, on the way visit Konso one of the world Heritage town. Konso, is known for its stone wall village and cultural landscape particularly their intricately terraced hillsides.
They village is also known for fine woven materials, traditional wooden curved totem “waka” as a symbol of grave marks for their clan chief and warriors.

Day 8Dec 29/2018: Arbaminch – Addis Ababa

Morning drive from Arbaminch to Addis Ababa en route you will visit the world heritage site of Tiya and the Stone Age archaeological site of Melka kunturie. Evening you will have fare well dinner at one of the traditional restaurants in Addis Ababa and fly back home.
